Volunteer Opportunities with our Community Archaeology Dig

Come and help us to record the archaeology in our Walled Garden as we prepare to plant a new apple orchard at this scheduled monument. This is a great chance to gain further experience on a UK excavation in a supportive environment.

The site dates back to 750AD and Neolithic, Roman, Medieval and Tudor finds have been found previously.

The dig is taking place Monday to Friday from 6 to 24 October, except Monday 13 October which is being exchanged for the morning of Sunday 12 October.

We are looking for volunteers with archaeology experience to commit to 3 days minimum of excavation or finds processing over the three weeks. The dig will run from 8.30am-5pm daily, with breaks. Travel expenses up to £8 per day will be reimbursed.
