Sashiko hands-on mending workshop

Every year, the UK produces 206.456 tonnes of textile waste each year. Rather than discarding damaged textiles, join Restoration London and discover Sashiko — the Japanese method of mending.

This two-hour workshop will provide you with an introduction to the Sashiko embroidery method using beautiful fabrics as patches to fix any holes in your clothing and to create beautiful traditional designs. Choose your design, practise your stitching with careful guidance and learn a new skill to help you fight textile waste.

This workshop is for ages 14+.

Garden tours

Join the garden apprentices for a tour around our historic garden.

Seed swap

Have you planted your spring seeds and still have a few left in the packet, or did you harvest more than you needed last year? Share the love and bring your seeds along to our seed swap! You’ll be able to exchange your spare seeds for something you don’t have – making your garden more colourful, scented and delicious. All seeds are welcome, from flowers to produce. Make sure the seeds you bring are clearly labelled so we know what they are.

Preloved pavilion

Reduce landfill waste by repairing things rather than tossing them in the bin!  Visit our pavilion in the chaplain’s courtyard to learn how you can re-love items and do good for the planet.

  • Say no to fast fashion!  Preloved fashion pop-up will have a second hand fashion shop selling a mix of high-street, vintage and luxury items.  Don’t miss out on some great fashion finds.
  •  Join Alex Horn from West Central London Fixers as he demonstrates common laptop repairs. You can also donate an old laptop which Alex will repair and distribute to those in need.
  • Hannah from Reconsidered will be offering free simple clothing repairs (such as fixing a loose button) as well as giving advice on how she can revamp your clothes into something you’ll love again.  Bring in your items you would like repaired or upcycled.
  • Restoration London will host a Sashiko (Japanese) mending workshop from 14.00 – 16.00.

Raffle

We will be having a fabulous raffle with wonderful prizes, all proceeds will go towards getting our own flock of chickens! We are hoping to raise the funds needed to get a coop, six hens, organic feed and all the necessities to welcome a flock to the Palace grounds. Not only will chickens provide organic eggs but their droppings will be used as a natural fertiliser for our garden.
