Our Young Archaeologists’ Club (YAC) is for budding archaeologists aged 8 to 16.
Each term YAC members investigate different themes, with activities that can range from learning to catalogue artefacts to taking part in a real archaeology dig!
This term covers everything from Roman finds to Fulham Palace in the Second World War. Every session is hands-on, so get ready to learn new skills and make new friends!
Summer term: 18 May – 20 June 2019
- Brooch making: Saturday 18 May, 10.30 – 12.15
During our most recent archaeological dig we recovered a Roman brooch. In this session we’ll be looking at Roman, Saxon and Viking brooches and their archaeological significance while having a go at making our very own versions.
- Foreshore walk with Thames Discovery Programme: Saturday 15 June, 9.00 – 10.45
The Thames Discovery Programme will lead us on a foreshore walk on the Putney side of the River Thames. We’ll look for artefacts on the shore and learn about finds which have been made in this area. Because of the tide times in June we’ll start earlier than usual.
- Parch marks project: Saturday 20 July, 10.30 – 12.15
In this session we’ll be helping with Fulham Palace’s parch marks project and attempting to interpret and recreate our long lost medieval chapel ready for the family fun day on Sunday 28 July.
