Our brand new ‘Hands On Archaeology’ days kicked off with a fantastic event on Sunday 20th November. As our first session happened to coincide with national Kids in Museums Takeover Day, seven extremely enthusiastic members of our Young Archaeologist Club and Youth Panel volunteered to run the show for the afternoon, offering interactive handling sessions and object in focus museum tours to the visiting public.

This June I had the great pleasure of becoming a Heritage Learning, Interpretation and Participation trainee. Spending half of my week at Orleans House Gallery and the other half with the amazing brains behind Fulham Palace’s learning department; now in the penultimate week as a learning trainee I can honestly say I’ve had an incredible time.

Last October, I joined Fulham Palace’s Young Archaeologists’ Club (YAC as we like to call it). At first I was nervous as I thought I was going to be the oldest person in the session, but I had no need to be embarrassed, as the participants are a range of ages - from as young as 8 to as old as 16.
