With original ceilings, natural light and steeped in history, the Bishop Terrick rooms are the perfect backdrop for a private event.
The adjoining Bishop Terrick rooms offer an elegant and intimate setting, rich in character and layered history. Beautifully proportioned and full of period detail, these interconnected rooms provide a refined backdrop for both private celebrations and corporate gatherings.
A space with stories
The Terrick rooms form part of the south façade and were named after Richard Terrick, the Bishop of London from 1764 – 1777. The rooms retain their sense of historic intimacy, offering original features, generous windows and detailing, maintaining their period charm.
Built in 1764 during Bishop Terrick’s residency, the rooms were designed by the architect Stiff Leadbetter for Bishop Terrick as part of his Strawberry Hill inspired Gothic building and the demolition material from the 13th century chapel was used for their foundations. After suffering badly from flood damage in the late 19th century, both rooms had their floorboards replaced in the 1970s. Today the rooms are enjoyed for a variety of purposes. From being hired by artists as gallery space to hosting private events, the Terrick rooms provide a beautiful backdrop steeped in history.
A flexible, intimate setting
What makes the Terrick rooms particularly special for private hires is their adaptable layout. The adjoining rooms allow for natural flow between spaces, making them ideal for events and gatherings. Whether arranged for dining, theatre-style seating or a standing reception, the rooms feel both impressive and welcoming.
