Fulham Palace learning needs you!

by Jean Shipton, learning assistant

The Learning department at Fulham Palace is a busy, diverse, fun and interesting place to work and volunteer. Anything about learning and it comes our way, including schools, early years, adult learning, family event days and archaeology to name but a few! We’re currently on the lookout for more volunteers to assist us. Hear first-hand from Jean, our learning assistant about what this entails and how rewarding an experience it can be.

My name is Jean and I am the Learning Assistant here at Fulham Palace. In August 2016, I was a volunteer with the summer holiday art activities. By December 2016, I was a member of staff responsible for Palace Explorers (for 2-4 year olds).

What a lot of people don’t know is that is isn’t just children that we work with. The education team supports the learning of children and all ages from 0 years to 100 and beyond.

For those who like working directly with our visitors there are many occasions to meet people and help support, provide and extend great learning opportunities.

For those who would prefer something a little quieter there are numerous opportunities which supports, develops and improves the educational provision.

No matter how often or how little you can volunteer, we would love to hear from you! There are a range of interesting and satisfying experiences from short projects such as making dance bangles (30 minutes) to longer projects such as reorganising resources that may fit into your timetable.

If you would like to know more, please do contact me –  I am around on Mondays to Thursdays. I look forward to hearing from you.

You can get in touch with me on education@fulhampalace.org.
