Dissecting the dirt: Advanced young archaeology course
Join us for our brand new series of workshops for young people aged 16-25.
Gain valuable transferable skills including project management and leadership by planning and supporting our Young Archaeologists Club, then get in-depth archaeological training from our community archaeologist, Alexis. These full-day sessions will be fun and active opportunities to gain valuable skills for the future!
If you have a keen interest in archaeology, history, geography or geology, and are looking to develop professional transferable skills, this course is perfect for you.
You’ll start by helping with our Young Archaeologists’ Club and later in the term, you will plan and facilitate sessions for them. In the afternoon you will get in-depth, practical archaeological training – the skills you’ll learn are useful in the field, but also in many different career paths. The sessions will be informative, interesting and will give you a chance to get creative!
Schedule for this term:
16 October: The Archaeological Record – How do you record an archaeological excavation? What are the systems used on-site and how do they work?
20 November: We’ll be taking a trip to Kings Cross to look at building recording and how structural usage changes over time.
Free spaces are available for young people from Brent, Barnet, Ealing or Hammersmith and Fulham. Contact education@fulhampalace.org for more information.
