Family fun day: the Palace at war

Visit the Palace’s World War I hospital and learn what life was like for the nurses who worked here and the patients they treated.

Take a look through Sister Mary Latchmore’s scrapbook, which she made when she worked here, and use it as inspiration to make your own Edwardian scrapbook. Dress up as a nurse or Bishop Winnington-Ingram, and take part in our bandage rolling challenge! Hear stories from a patient being treated here; and get hands on with objects from this period.

From 13.30 – 14.00 you’ll also have a chance to gather around the piano and sing along with wartime music (this time from World War II) played by one of our talented music volunteers.
