Festival of Archaeology: Fulham Palace – London’s hidden gem

Join Fulham Palace’s archaeologist Alexis for a free guided tour as part of the Festival of Archaeology.

Often described as a hidden gem, Fulham Palace is also London’s second oldest botanic garden and has a long and remarkable history. It was home to the Bishops of London from AD 704 to 1973, with origins that can be traced back to the Late Mesolithic to Early Neolithic period. Archaeological evidence reveals Roman, Saxon, medieval and post medieval activity across the site.

This special tour will explore the Palace’s topographic location, its changing environment and the events, people and even animals that have shaped it over time. Through archaeology and landscape, discover how nature and human life have always been closely connected at Fulham Palace.

This special event is part of the nationwide Festival of Archaeology, run by the Council for British Archaeology.
