Friends of Fulham Palace private tour of Cutlers’ Hall

The Friends of Fulham Palace organise regular exclusive visits for their members to historic sights in London.

Their next visit is to The Worshipful Company of Cutlers situated in Cutlers’ Hall, a spectacular building in central London. Find out more about becoming a Friend of Fulham Palace.

This private Friends’ tour will provide an opportunity to venture inside the home of The Worshipful Company of Cutlers’ which is one of the most ancient of the City of London livery companies receiving its first Royal Charter from Henry V in 1416.

We will learn about the history of the Company and the current hall built in 1888 as a country manor house in the city, which is adorned on the outside with a finely carved terracotta frieze illustrating cutlers working at their craft.  Our tour will take us into the Court Room and the Livery Hall with its Victorian hammer beam roof whilst also providing the opportunity to see the company’s collection of silver, artefacts, historical swords and cutlery.  The cutlery collection ranges from Stone Age tools to the cutlery of today, from the cheapest of mass produced knives to exquisite items of gold and ivory encrusted with jewels.

In addition we will be able to take part in the re-enactment of several ceremonies held during a company banquet, complete with a glass of madeira!

Tickets
