Half term theatre: The Canterville Ghost
Something spooky is haunting Canterville Chase…
Creaking floorboards, clanking chains and gruesome disguises are all part of the Canterville Ghost’s terrifying routine. He’s been haunting the ancient mansion for years and even managed to scare the Lord and Lady Canterville out of their own home.
But now there’s a new family in town, and the Otises are not easily frightened. They refuse to let a silly old ghost stop them from enjoying their new mansion. No matter how hard he tries, the Canterville Ghost just can’t seem to scare them!
Will the ghost finally manage to get rid of the Otis family? Or will they turn the tables and get rid of him?
Join us this Halloween for an interactive storytelling adaptation of Oscar Wilde’s classic spooky tale. With ghostly goings-on, audience participation and plenty of theatrical fun, this mischievous retelling brings the story of Canterville Chase to life.
Perfect for children aged 7 and over, it’s a fun and gently spooky way to spend half term. Just be warned… you never know when the Canterville Ghost might appear!
Event details
- The event will take place in the chaplain’s garden marquee.
- This event is suitable for ages 7+. Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
- Doors open from 13.30 so you can arrive early and get comfortable before the show begins.
- The show runs for approximately 50 minutes with no interval, but the marquee doors will stay open throughout if you need to step out for the toilet.
- The Palace café will be open for food and drink. Covered bottled drinks are welcome at the performance but please do not bring any other food or drink.
- Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
- Tickets can be bought on the door, subject to availability.
