Palace explorers: Learning our senses – taste
Explore Fulham Palace using your five senses!
Listen a little more carefully, look a little more closely and recognise the smells and colours around you. Together we will observe, collect and share stories from the Palace using our five senses.
Palace explorers is a series of weekly hands-on workshop for children ages 2 – 4 and their adults with each week introducing a new topic. This term encourages children and adults alike to be more mindful, observant and curious about the world we live in.
Term schedule:
Week 1: 25 & 26 April – Taste
Bishop Sherlock may well have indulged in a hot chocolate, but how did the Georgians make it? Come and find out.
Week 2: 9 & 10 May – Touch
Is it rough or smooth? What does it feel like? Our explorers will use natural items to create beautifully textured artworks.
Week 3: 16 & 17 May – Sight
The Bishops wore wonderful shiny mitres and copes. We’ll experiment using shine and sparkle to make our own creations.
Week 4: 23 & 24 May – Smell
The historic walled garden has many lovely fragrances. Our explorers will find plants that Queen Elizabeth I would have recognised and enjoyed.
Week 5: 6 & 7 June – Sound
What do you hear? The Palace is filled with different noises. We’ll discover sounds from the past and enjoy a little music-making.
