This term
Join us for a term of Palace explorers with the theme of ‘mouse in the museum’!
Week 1: Mouse in the museum
6 /7 September
This term is based on the book Maisy goes to the Museum. This week we will be exploring what a museum is, going treasure hunting and handling Roman objects from the museum’s collection!
Week 2: From across the sea
13/14 September
Have you ever brought back a souvenir from a holiday? See what the Bishop got from a holiday in America.
Week 3: Building a museum
20/21 September
What is plaster and how is it used? Explore the faces at the Palace and make a plaster face.
Week 4: Nibble
27/28 September
Mice can damage the Palace; learn about the animals that cause problems in the museum. We will even make a mouse puppet!
Week 5: Music making
4/5 October
This week we will be making music! We will create a tambourine, sing songs and play instruments.
Week 6: Treasure hunt
11/12 October
Time for a treasure hunt! Lots of treasures are found on the Palace site, what will we find?
Week 7: Patterns
18/19 October
From brick work to mosaics, how many patterns can you find at the Palace? Inspired by our findings we will create a patterned pot.
Accompanying adult and babies are free. Please note, children must be accompanied by one adult. All Palace explorers sessions are now held outdoors to adhere to the current Covid-19 guidelines and keep everyone as safe as possible. Indoor sessions will only be held in the event of very poor weather following strict procedures. The group size is now smaller, with only eight slots available for each session; in order to keep our group small, only one adult can attend per child. To safely hold Palace explorer sessions we are carefully following guidelines in line with government Covid procedures. This will include hand hygiene, social distancing and limited sharing of resources.
