Summer explorers: Roman archaeology & mosaic making

The Palace is looking for adventurous, imaginative and enthusiastic explorers ages 2 – 8!

Join summer explorers and discover August’s adventure at the Palace! Travel back in time and uncover the secrets of Fulham Palace through forgotten objects and hidden stories. Children will experience the sights, sounds and smells of the garden and get creative with hands-on arts and crafts. Both children and adults will discover new ways to learn and create together.

Summer explorers encourages families with children ages 2 – 8 can unlock their creativity and discover new ways to learn and explore together. Summer explorers consists of four bespoke two-hour sessions, including a short break.

Please note, children must be accompanied by an adult.

Week schedule:

Monday 1 August: Roman archaeology & mosaic making

Explore the everyday life of Romans with Alexis the archaeologist. Explore Roman life at the Fulham villa and gain inspiration from handling real Roman artefacts to create your own mosaic.

Tuesday 2 August: learning through nature

How different are we from our ancestors? Discover what Fulham was like before the bishops built the Palace. Create an outdoor community, build a shelter and learn how to survive nature in this immersive session!

Wednesday 3 August: calling the Palace home

Have you ever dreamed of living in a Palace? Make yourself at home as you become a member of the Palace household. From dressing in the proper clothes to keeping up with daily tasks, experience a day in the life of one of the Palace’s residents.

Thursday 4 August: a magic carpet ride

From a time-travelling cat to a stolen salt cellar, the Palace has a long history that tells many colourful stories! Together we’ll go on an adventure as we travel through the power of our imagination and bring our favourite stories to life.
