This lecture will reveal remarkable finds from the site and trace Fulham Palace’s story from prehistoric activity on the Thames foreshore and Roman settlement, through the Saxon and medieval periods, to its development as the historic home of the Bishops of London. This talk will also explore the Palace’s botanical history, including its role as London’s second oldest botanic garden.
Following the lecture, there will be an opportunity to ask questions during a live Q&A session with Alexis.

About the author
Alexis Haslam joined Fulham Palace Trust in 2017 and has worked in archaeology for more than 20 years. Holding a BA in History and membership with the Institute for Archaeologists, Alexis has directed and published numerous excavations throughout his career.
Since joining Fulham Palace, Alexis has led archaeological investigations across the site while researching and writing the Palace’s first complete history, This land of 50 hides: The archaeology and history of the Fulham Palace site, from prehistory to the present.
