Charity, through volunteering and philanthropy, can help to build communities and form more inclusive and stronger societies.
Supporting charity can assist in the advancement of culture, science and the protection of cultural and natural heritage. For us at Fulham Palace, ‘charity’ means supporting our community, whether that’s through volunteering, donations or spreading the word about the site with your friends and family!
As an independent charitable trust, Fulham Palace receives no government funding, meaning we rely on other sources to generate the necessary income we need to operate. It costs almost £5,000 a day to run this special historic site and garden. Fulham Palace is able to remain a free site through the kindness of our supporters, with the income our membership provides, the generous donations made by individuals and corporate donors and grants from trusts and foundations.
This International Charity Day, we look at different ways to support Fulham Palace.
Help support a history that never stands still
Fulham Palace is not just an important part of history, but a hub for cultural and educational activities. We continue to work to protect the history of the Palace through a variety of campaigns, such as our current campaign to replace the halogen lighting in Bishop Porteus’ library with new LED lighting.
The current lighting system in the library is outdated and inefficient. LED lighting is not only energy-efficient, but also low-maintenance and long-lasting, meaning we can reduce our energy costs and minimise our environmental impact while preserving the historic character of the library and collection.
With this appeal, we hope to host more learning events, such as behind-the-scenes talks in the library, to encourage its interpretation and appreciation amongst the community.
Supporting this appeal would help make the project a reality. Your donation would be used directly towards the purchase and installation of LED lighting, and every donation counts towards our goal. By donating today, you can help us preserve our historic library for generations to come.
