Jazz on the lawn: Adrian Cox Quintet & Louise Balkwill
Join Adrian Cox Quintet ‘The New Orleans Clarinet’ with special guest Louise Balkwill for an evening of outdoor live music.
Adrian Cox is of the leading exponents of the New Orleans clarinet. His unrivalled feel and virtuosity have led to work with the biggest names in jazz, including Wynton Marsalis and the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra. A former member of Kansas Smitty’s (‘London’s new swing princes’, Evening Standard), Adrian’s wealth of knowledge of the music from this celebrated era will take you on a trip from New Orleans to New York, from the small groups to the legendary vocalists such as Irma Thomas and Ella Fitzgerald. The band features the award-winning singer Louise Balkwill, along with fellow Smitty’s alum Joe Webb on piano and the wonderful Denny Ilett (Lillian Boutté) on guitar.
- ‘London’s most charismatic reeds man’ (Time Out)
- ‘Totally bowled over by Louise Balkwill’s incredible vocals’ (Jazzwise)
